Watercolour Workshop at Monart

Join us for two inspiring mornings of creativity at the Monart Art School of Ottawa!
You'll explore essential watercolour techniques, experiment with colour blending, brush control, and composition — all while bringing your own artistic vision to life. Whether you're picking up a brush for the first time or you're a seasoned artist looking to refine your skills, this workshop is for you.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Basic and advanced watercolour techniques

  • How to create expressive washes and textures

  • Color mixing and pigment layering

  • Composition tips to strengthen your artwork

  • How to loosen up and work confidently with the medium

Old Master Copy Oil Painting Course

 (4 Weeks – Tuesday Evenings, 5–9 PM)
May 20th – June 10th, 2025

Study the classical painting methods of the Old Masters
in this focused 4-week oil painting course.

You’ll learn the academic method of painting, beginning with a dry-brush drawing to establish form and structure, followed by local color lay-ins and a transition to fully opaque painting. The emphasis is on building form, value, and colour through careful observation and layered application.

This course is ideal for students who want to strengthen their technical foundation, slow down, and really understand the traditional painting process.

We’ll work from a curated Old Master image, guiding you through setup, transfer, underpainting, and colour work.

With a class size of 8, you’ll get focused feedback in a supportive studio environment.
